Question: What are the environmental practices of the State University's Sanitation Laboratory?

Anwer:

Wichman: We carry out analytical testing to support multiple local and state agencies, including local county health departments, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Department of Health, Department of Inspection and Complaints. Iowa Claims, Iowa Department of Homeland Security, and other organizations. We are involved in testing air, surface water, groundwater, drinking water - including both public and private water - waste water, plant material, soil, sediment and ore rocks. different. Many of these tests are required by various statutes such as the Safe Drinking Water Act; Clean Water Act; Clean Air Act; Act Pesticides, fungicides and rodenticides; Preservation and Restoration Act. We also participate in a number of federal incident networks at the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency), the FDA Products and Pharmaceuticals.

Cain: In addition, we provide consultancy and implementation of private trials to citizens. So if a person has a separate well and they have problems or just want to check the state of the well, we can assist them. We also collaborate, often under the project, together with researchers from the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the private universities in the state.
